Friday night features five games in the NHL. We’ve had a look through the card and rounded up our three favorite plays for the night:

St. Louis Blues vs. Carolina Hurricanes

It’s probably not the strongest play but considering there are only five games to choose from and we pick three, the Hurricanes could be offering up some value here. They’ve played pretty well since they made the goaltending switch from Cam Ward to Anton Khudobin. Overall, they’ve won four of five while Khudobin is 11-4-0 on the year with a 2.24 GAA.

The Blues are playing well, too, having won three straight, but laying -160 on the road seems a bit much here – especially when you consider they are just 5-4 in their last nine. I’ll take a small shot with the home dog here.

Pick: Hurricanes +140 at Bookmaker

Washington Capitals vs. Detroit Red Wings

I’m not so sure that the Capitals should be such a big road underdog in this spot. I understand that they are in a back-to-back situation after playing in Columbus last night and it’s also their third road game in four nights. However, the Red Wings are a horrible home team having lost nine of their last 13 at home. Overall, the Red Wings have also dropped five of their last eight. The value seems to be here to take a shot with Washington for my NHL picks.

Pick: Capitals +135 at Pinnacle

Vancouver Canucks vs. Winnipeg Jets

The Jets have played very well since Paul Maurice took over and although they’ll be without scorer Evander Kane in this one, I still see no reason to take the Canucks with your sports picks here. The Canucks have lost two straight and 11 of 15 overall. They’ve also dropped five of their last six on the road. As for the Jets, they’ve won six of eight and are playing their best stretch of hockey this year. I’ll take them in this spot – especially when the NHL odds show a PICK.

Pick: Jets -105 at BetOnline
