Friday is a quiet night in the NHL with just five games on the card. We’ve got the rundown on three of them below, so check out the analysis and predictons.

Colorado Avalanche vs. Florida Panthers

The Colorado Avalanche had been playing well until they ran into the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday. They were drilled 5-2 but Toronto is one of the hottest teams in the NHL right now, so it’s nothing to be ashamed of. The Avs had won eight of 10 before that.

I look for them to get back on track against Florida, which is a team they have lots of success against. The Avs have won seven of their last 10 trips to Florida and are 15-7 when facing a team with a losing record this season. The Panthers are just 7-14 when facing teams above .500.

Pick: Avalanche -110 at Bookmaker

Nashville Predators vs. Calgary Flames

I’ll add the Predators to my NHL picks on Friday as they visit the struggling Calgary Flames. The Flames have been brutal of late, losing 15 of their last 19 games. The Preds are a road dog because this is a back-to-back situation for them as they played in Vancouver on Thursday night. However, heading into that game, the Preds had won three of four, which included a win over the Flames. They’re worth a look here – especially since they’re a dog on the NHL odds.

Pick: Predators +105 at Pinnacle

Phoenix Coyotes vs. Edmonton Oilers

In a matchup of bad versus worse, I’ll take the Phoenix Coyotes who are just plain bad these days. They’ve dropped 14 of their last 19 games but that’s nothing compared to the Oilers, who have lost 16 of 20.

What I’m banking on for my NHL picks here is that the series history continues to favor the Coyotes. They’ve won four of their last five in Edmonton and eight of the last 10 meetings overall.

Pick: Coyotes -113 at Pinnacle
