Florida Panthers @ Winnipeg Jets
The Panthers continue to get no love from the sportsbooks. They are a sizable underdog in Winnipeg on Friday night and the line really doesn’t make sense. The Jets have been sloppy all season and come into the matchup after losing to Buffalo on Tuesday. Newsflash: Buffalo is the worst team in the NHL. That now makes it four losses in five games for the Jets.
As for the Panthers, they have won five straight and seven of eight. I’ll add them to my NHL picks.
Pick: Panthers +133 at Pinnacle
I’ve been wary of the Canucks as they’ve proven they can go from hot to cold very quickly. That’s been evident as they’ve followed up their seven-game winning streak with back-to-back losses. Thursday’s loss was particularly frustrating as they mailed in their effort in a 4-1 loss to the Dallas Stars. That being the case, I’m going to bet against them now that they’re in a back-to-back situation on the road.
I don’t want to lay the juice but I’ll add the puckline to my NHL picks. I’m expecting Chicago, who is 12-2-4 at home this season, to at least get the win here.
Pick: Blackhawks -1.5 at Bookmaker
The Islanders have got Evgeni Nabokov back between the pipes and he’s been able to stop 58 of 61 shots in the two games he’s been back. I’m expecting him to hold up his end of the bargain as I aim for an under in this one.
The Rangers completely dominate this series as they’ve won eight of the last 10 meetings. Goaltender Henrik Lundqvist has won six of his last seven starts against the Islanders, posting a 1.14 GAA against them.
I found a total of 5.5 at Canbet and Marathon, so I’ll take the under in the NHL odds for this one. These are two of the lowest-scoring teams in the league.
Pick: Under 5.5 at Marathon
