Friday is a quiet night in the NHL with just three games but we’ve got previews on all of them. Below we’ve got a pair of games covered and make sure you check out the Edmonton-Vancouver preview as well.

New Jersey Devils @ Pittsburgh Penguins

This is a matchup of two teams who have been playing very differently of late. The Devils have lost four of five and seven of their last 10. This is a team who just can’t seem to get untracked. Their goaltending has been shockingly average while their goal-scoring has been expectedly bad. It doesn’t help matters that captain Bryce Salvador and Ryane Clowe are still out of the lineup.

The Pens have their own issues with players missing as Brooks Orpik is still out with a concussion while James Neal is out due to a suspension. However, the team has still won seven of eight and is playing pretty well.

I’ll take a shot with the Pens puckline in this one as I don’t want to lay the juice on the NHL odds. Marc-Andre Fleury is 4-1-0 with a 1.38 GAA against the Devils in his last five starts, so hopefully he can keep the Devils under wraps and lead our NHL picks a win on the puckline.

Pick: Pens -1.5 +161 at Pinnacle

Washington Capitals @ Florida Panthers

I’m hesitant but I’ll take a shot by adding the Capitals to my sports picks as they seem like good value on Friday night. They’re the better of the two teams as 11 points separate the two in the standings. Washington has played well recently as they’ve won three straight and they play well against Florida as well. They’ve won three straight in Florida and eight straight in this series overall.

Given those numbers, the Caps are worth a look since you only have to lay -115 with them.
