NHL Betting: Thursday Picks
We’ve got that game previewed and picked below along with two others in our daily picks.
Record: 117-138 (-1443)
Carolina Hurricanes at Washington Capitals
At this point, there’s no betting against the Washington Capitals and there’s no betting on the Carolina Hurricanes. The Caps have won five straight and are 9-1-1 in their last 11. As for the Hurricanes, they have lost 13 of their last 14 games.
In each of their last 10 losses, the Hurricanes have given up at least four goals and have lost by at least two goals. That means I’ll take the Caps on the puck line here as the NHL odds list this at too expensive a price on the money line.
NHLPick: Capitals -1.5 +159 at Pinnacle
Florida Panthers at Winnipeg Jets
The Winnipeg Jets have won two straight following their five-game losing streak and but a third straight win shouldn’t be assumed even though the Florida Panthers are visiting. The Panthers have actually won four of five.
I like the under in this game as Jets goaltender Ondrej Pavelec plays much better at home. Also, the last three meetings between these teams have seen exactly five goals and I see that trend continuing.
NHLPick: Under 5 at Bovada
Montreal Canadiens at Buffalo Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres are coming off a really sloppy effort in their last game and they really can’t afford any more performances like that if they want to make the playoffs. Nobody really believes they will but you can expect the team to be a bit more focused on Thursday.
I see both goaltenders dictating the pace here. We are expecting to see Peter Budaj in net for the Habs and he’s been on fire of late. Budaj has given up eight goals in his last six starts, so we’ll bank on him to carry us to an under with our NHL picks here.
NHLPick: Under at Bet Phoenix
