The Stars host the Ducks on Tuesday at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas. The NHL odds are out; find out who've we decided to place our money on!

According to NHL betting odds Dallas is a -110 money line home favorite and the posted total is 5.5. These two clubs have seen their last 5 meetings in Dallas all go under the total. Anaheim is 4-1 in their last 5-games versus Dallas.

The Mighty Ducks

Anaheim enters this game playing on two days rest, and having won their previous 2-games. The Ducks have managed to attain at least 1-point in 20 of their first 26-games this season, despite some inconsistent special teams play. Anaheim is 25th in the NHL on the power play, and 24th in penalty killing. They’ve also won 9 of their first 10-games at home, while earning 19 of 20-points possible points. The Ducks were able to break a 3-game road losing streak in their previous game with a 4-2 win at Phoenix. After lighting up the scoreboard in the early part of the schedule, the Ducks have slowed considerably in the regard. They’ve scored 2-goals or less in regulation time in 6 of their last 7-games.

Basking in Mediocrity

The Stars have had an up and down early part of the season. They started the season 5-8, then won 6 of the next 7, and have lost 2 in a row going into tonight’s game. In their previous game they had their 6-game road winning streak snapped in a 6-1 blowout loss at St. Louis. Dallas has received very good goaltending from Kari Lehtonen who has posted a 2.12 GAA and .924 save percentage in 17 starts. Ironically he comes off his worst performance of the season at St. Louis allowing 5-goals on just 17 shots, and was pulled from the game early in the 3rd period.

Final Analysis

Lindy Ruff has done a nice job in his first year as the head coach of the Stars, succeeding at getting the most out of his club. You can make the case that Dallas has even overachieved a bit in the early part of the season. Anaheim is as good as advertised, and will only get better as the season progresses. My lean here for my NHL pick is with the road underdog.
