What are we to make of the Anaheim Ducks? On the surface, it looks like they’ve gotten back on track with five wins in their last seven but at a closer examination, it’s pretty clear that something is just not quite right with this squad.

The Anaheim Ducks Can Win Because…

The Oilers are just waiting for their miserable season to end. They are coming off a win but it was just their second in their last eight games. The Oilers continue to struggle between the pipes as they’ve now coughed up an average of 4.25 goals per game in that span, which is unacceptable.

Anaheim might be having some issues but scoring is not one of them. They’ve managed to score three goals or more in six of their last seven while averaging 3.85 goals per contest. This should be an easy one for them.

NHL Picks: Sunday Picks of the Day

The Edmonton Oilers Can Win Because…
The Ducks are struggling. Yes, they’ve won five of seven but in three of those wins, they were trailing entering the third period and needed to dig out of a hole. They were losing 4-1 to Winnipeg, 2-1 to Calgary and 2-0 to Edmonton before waking up in the nick of time. It’s not as if any of those teams are heading to the playoffs and two of the games were on the Duck Pond, so what are the Ducks doing?

To further illustrate the point, the Ducks lost their last game, a 5-2 setback to the lousy Nashville Predators. That now makes it five losses in their last eight home games.

The Ducks are not to be trusted with your sports picks.

Outlook & Pick
This will be the fifth meeting between the teams and the Ducks have taken three of the first four meetings. As bad as Edmonton is, the Ducks have proven to be an unreliable bet recently. With no real value on the side, I’ll go with the over in this spot based on Edmonton’s sluggish goaltending.

Pick: Over 5.5 at BetMarathon
