With a win the Anaheim Ducks will win the Pacific Division after clawing back from a 16 point deficit? Join us in this betting preview to find out and cash a ticket tonight.

The Anaheim Ducks are probably not enthralled with the idea of flying across the country to make up a game that was snowed out in January but they are ecstatic to know that they will win the Pacific Division with a victory.

Winning means the Ducks would face Nashville in the first round but a loss would send them to a tougher match-up against San Jose.

The key in this one is how much playing time Barry Trotz will give to his top stars.  Alexander Ovechkin and Evgeny Kuznetsov's minutes were down in the Caps 4-1 victory against the Blues, a game that I felt was their dress rehearsal for the postseason. I anticipate that the Capitals will be more concerned with leaving the regular season behind than they will with beating Anaheim.

It would make sense to anticipate that since Ovechkin reached the 50 goal plateau that his playing time would be dramatically reduced in this one.

To further that point it appears that Philip Grubauer will start in the crease for Washington. Significant when trying to get an understanding of how Trotz is treating this game considering that Braden Holtby could break the record for victories in a season with a win.

This is a revenge spot for the Ducks after taking a 2-1 shootout loss to Washington March 7th, a game in the Ducks managed to keep Washington scoreless for the first two periods.  The Ducks owned a 29-22 face-off advantage which is huge because it essentially gave the Ducks seven more possessions even though they weren't able to capitalize on those chances.

Some of the comments coming from the Capitals lockeroom hasn't inspired me to back them financially on the NHL Odds. Holtby said that the past few weeks have been a distraction after they clinched the Presidents Trophy while chasing Martin Brodeur's record.  His comments are a reflection of the Caps on ice performance as Washington's play has been lethargic at best even in victory.

It presents a tough dilemma for Trotz to have his team in the proper frame of mind while not trying to add any new injuries.

One thing that has made the Capitals great this season is the thing that's making bettors take a second look before backing Washington is their ability to string together wins.  In their last five games following a win the Capitals have lost four of their last five.  If that trend continues the Ducks will be the right side.

From a trend standpoint we look to see how the Ducks react after having an uncharacteristic offensive night, meaning scoring five goals or more.  Our data base indicates that in their last 63 games after scoring five goals or more the Ducks are 45-18.  This means that they usually stay consistently hot without falling back into their normal offensive patterns.

The Ducks are have just squeaked into my top 10 because I don't trust them on the offensive end but in this situation they are clearly the side to make your NHL Pick on the game since they play with so much to gain against a team that has nothing to gain except for a few injuries.
