Free NHL Picks for a few of today's hockey matchups. What lines have the NHL odds makers set out for us, and where are we leaning?

Wednesday is a light card in the NHL with just four games on the radar. We’ve got three of them previewed for you below and we’ve also singled off the San Jose-Phoenix matchup in its own article.

Record: 140-155 (-364)

Los Angeles Kings vs. Detroit Red Wings

The Detroit Red Wings really need this game but that sense of urgency hasn’t done much for them over the last few weeks. They were in great playoff shape at the end of February but registering just four wins in their last 12 hasn’t helped.

I like the way the Kings are playing these days as they’ve won four of their last five, but the problem is it’s still hard to trust them on the road. They are 8-14 away from home and have lost four straight and five of six road games.

That being the case, I’ll add the under to my sports picks tonight. The Red Wings are having trouble scoring while the Kings have scored just seven goals in their last four road games.

NHL Pick: Under 5 at Bovada

Toronto Maple Leafs vs. Tampa Bay Lightning

Tampa Bay looks like a team that has already started scheduling tee times. They have lost six straight and worse yet, the one thing that’s carried them this season – their offense – has gone awry. The Lightning have scored just eight goals in their last four.

The Maple Leafs have clinched a playoff spot already but they’d probably like some momentum to work with once the playoff start. They are the better of the two teams and have showed that both recently and this season.

NHL Pick: Maple Leafs +102 at Pinnacle

Chicago Blackhawks vs. Edmonton Oilers

I don’t know that there’s any real way that you look at this contest and logically add the Edmonton Oilers to your NHL picks. They’ve lost two straight and eight of nine, and they are having a really tough time scoring goals these days. They’ve scored one goal or less in six of their last nine.

I don’t want to lay a ton of juice with the Blackhawks on the road since they have nothing to play for and enter on a two-game losing streak themselves. That being the case, under makes the most sense to me with the Oilers sluggish and the Blackhawks lacking motivation.

NHL Pick: Under at Bovada
