Free NHL Picks for a few of today's hockey matchups. What lines have the NHL odds makers set out for us, and where are we leaning?

Tuesday night hockey features 10 games on the slate. We’ve zoned in on the two New York teams with our picks – both on the puck line – as both teams have been playing well as the playoffs approach. Read on below to find out reasoning for those games in our daily NHL picks.

Be sure to take a look at our daily NHL odds coverage.

Record: 136-155 (-770)

New York Islanders vs. Carolina Hurricanes

Why not take another shot with the New York Islanders? We’ve been cashing in on them with our sports picks for the last little while now and I see no reason not to try again. They have won three straight, six of seven and are 11-1-2 in their last 14 games.

The Isles have lost twice to the Hurricanes this season, but they had Cam Ward in net for those meetings. Even so, I’ll take the puck line instead of potentially getting bitten on the juice. I think the Isles are playing on a whole other level than Carolina right now.

NHL Pick: Islanders -1.5 +215 at Bookmaker

Calgary Flames vs. Nashville Predators

I think you’ve got to be crazy laying any juice with the Predators in this game. Nashville has lost eight straight and 11 of their last 12. The Preds are banged up as Mike Fisher, Paul Gaustad, Gabriel Bourque and Patric Hornqvist have all been out. But their goaltending hasn’t been strong either as Pekka Rinne has a 3.03 GAA while losing his last seven starts.

The Flames are playing well and deserve a little more credit on the NHL odds. They have won five of six and are probably playing their best hockey of the season. Given the streaks of both teams, I’ll take a flier on the Flames.

NHL Pick: Flames +126 at Pinnacle

New York Rangers vs. Florida Panthers

The New York Rangers are rolling right now as they have been quite effective since trading away Marian Gaborik. As a matter of fact, this is their best stretch of the season as they are 8-2-1 in their last 11 games. More importantly, their offense has picked up as they have scored 42 goals in their last 11 while Derick Brassard has nine points in his last 10 games.

The Panthers are mailing it in as they enter Tuesday’s meeting on a six-game losing streak. They have been outscored 30-8 in those six games and failed to cover the puck line each time.

NHL Pick: Rangers -1.5 +133 at Pinnacle
