Phoenix Coyotes (4-3) @ Anaheim Ducks (5-1)
According to current NHL betting odds the Ducks are a -155 money line home favorite and the total is posted at 5.5. Phoenix has won 4 of their last 5 versus Anaheim. However, the Ducks have won 19 of their last 28 at home versus the Coyotes.
The Ducks are Flying High
After starting the season with a 6-1 road loss at Colorado the Anaheim Ducks have strung together 5 wins in a row headed into tonight. They come off a 3-2 home win over Calgary on Wednesday night that saw them improve to a perfect 3-0 at home this season. Jonas Hiller is scheduled to get the start in goal tonight for Anaheim. Hiller has been terrific in 3 starts this season with a 1.30 GAA and a .959 save percentage. The Ducks have received balanced scoring so far as 10 different players have accounted for 3-points or more. Anaheim is averaging 3.5 goals per game and is 2nd in the NHL with an average of 35.8 shots on goal per game. Anaheim is a very profitable 35-17 in their last 52-games on the money line versus an opponent with a winning record.

The Coyotes Howl Muted
The Phoenix Coyotes had their 3-game winning streak come to an end in a 4-3 overtime loss at Ottawa on Tuesday night. Mike Riberio tied the game for the Coyotes at 3-3 on a goal with just 3:30 left to play in regulation. Unfortunately the Senators Corey Conacher scored at 2:48 of overtime to secure the win for Ottawa. The loss dropped the Coyotes to a still respectable 3-2 record on the road. The Coyotes have now seen 4 of their last 5-games go over the total. Contrarily the Coyotes have only gone over the total once in their last 8-games versus an opponent with a winning record.
I don’t have a strong feeling on this one. The Coyotes have acquitted themselves very strongly of late, and have held their own on the road this season. The Ducks have been very strong at home for two plus seasons now. I will go with a small lean on the home favorite for my hockey picks, due to the hot play of goaltender Jonas Hiller, and a strong home ice advantage.
