Our NHL consultant will cover his top two totals selections in this article. He’ll be analyzing the contests between the Rangers/Maple Leafs and Wild/Jets, in addition to sharing his selection on each of those clashes.

New York Rangers vs. Toronto Maple Leafs 7:35 PM ET
Despite their five goal outburst in their previous game, the Toronto Maple Leafs recent body of work from an offensive perspective has been very unimpressive. They’ve scored one goal or less in nine of their last twelve games, and went over the total just twice during that span. The New York Rangers have also seen an identical two of their previous twelve games go over the number.

Toronto is coming off a 5-1 home win over the Edmonton Oilers in their previous game. Toronto enters today’s game allowing an average of 3.1 goals per contest on the season. Those two forms of statistical data lead us to a highly profitable betting system on the total, and that will weigh in heavily when making one of my NHL picks for Tuesday.

Any home team with a total of 5.5, allowing 2.85 or more goals per game, and is coming off a win by four goals or more in their previous outing, has seen 117 of those 175-games (66.9%) go under the total since 1997.

NHL Pick: Play on the Rangers and Maple Leafs to go under the total of 5.5 at Pinnacle.

Minnesota Wild vs. Winnipeg Jets 8:05 PM ET
The Minnesota Wild have allowed just six goals combined over their last six games, and have held the opposition scoreless on three of those occasions. The Wild will stay with their red-hot goaltender Devan Dubnyk tonight for this Central Division battle. Dubnyk has compiled an outstanding .952 save percentage, and posted two shutouts during his last four starts.

The Winnipeg Jets were able to score five goals in their previous game, which you should consider when looking over the NHL odds. However, prior to that offensive outburst, the Jets had scored two goals or less in five consecutive games. Winnipeg is slated to go with Michael Hutchinson in goal tonight. Although Hutchinson’s whole body of work this season hasn’t been overly impressive, he possesses a stellar .927 save percentage in eleven starts at home during the 2014-2015 NHL campaign.

The Winnipeg Jets are coming off a 5-3 divisional win over the Colorado Avalanche in their previous game. The Minnesota Wild is coming off a 5-3 home win over the Vancouver Canucks in their previous contest. Those two results create a winning betting system pertaining to the total for this Central Division showdown on Tuesday.

Any home team (Winnipeg) with a total of 5.0 or less, coming off a win by two goals or more over a divisional opponent, and is facing a team (Minnesota) coming off a home win by two goals or more, has seen 48 of those 70-games (68.6%) stay under the total since 1997.

NHL Pick: Play on the Wild and Jets to go under the total of 5.0 at 5Dimes
