Our league analyst provides us with a betting preview article on Tuesday’s game between Nashville and Dallas; read inside the important specifics before making your NHL pick.

Central Division Showdown in “Big D”
A couple of NHL Central Division rivals will square off on Tuesday when Dallas hosts Nashville. The opening faceoff at the American Airlines Center is slated for 8:35 PM ET. The Current NHL odds at 5Dimes has Dallas as a -125 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between these clubs, Dallas has won twice, and two of three went over the total.

No Rest for the Weary
Nashville is coming off a 4-3 home loss to Colorado last night; the result was disappointing on a couple of fronts. Nashville saw their streak of ten consecutive home games in which they earned at least one point come to an end. It also prevented them from clinching a spot in the playoffs, although barring a complete collapse over its last six regular season games, seems like a virtual lock to occur sooner rather than later. Tuesday will also be the Predators third game in four days, and their fourth in six. Pekka Rinne has started the last four games in goal for Nashville, and in all likelihood we’ll see backup Carter Hutton between the pipes this evening. The Predators are a very profitable 12-5 against the money line during its previous seventeen games, and that includes 7-3 in their last 10 away contests.

Rested and Primed for Stretch Run
Unlike Tuesday’s opponent, Dallas will be well rested. They’re coming off a 4-2 win at San Jose on Saturday, and have now won four of its last five games. Dallas is not only tied with St. Louis for the Central Division lead, those clubs are also deadlocked for the top spot in the Western Conference. Each team has six regular season games left to play. Needless to say, every game from here on out will be critical for Dallas, if they hope to secure a #1 seed in the Western Conference playoff bracket.

Final Take and Pick
Dallas continues to be the highest scoring team in the NHL, averaging a robust 3.2 goals per game. They’re also #2 in shots on goal per contest (32.2), and own the #4 power play (22.2%). They’ve gone 13-5 (72.2%) over the total during its last eighteen games. Nashville has gone 5-0-3 over the total during their previous eight outings, and is 9-1-4 over during its last fourteen games. They rank #12 in scoring at 2.8 goals per game, but are a top five team pertaining to that specific category, during the second half of the season. This game should produce plenty of goals when all things are considered. It’s for that reason that I’ve made one of my Tuesday NHL picks.
