The Philadelphia Flyers (9-11-1) will play host to a familiar foe, as they welcome in the Washington Capitals (7-10-1) to the Wells Fargo Center where both teams will clash on the ice in our NHL game of the night.

NHL Picks: Capitals vs. Flyers

The puck is schedule to drop at 7:30 PM EST and can be seen live on television, with broadcast coverage provided by NBC Sports.

Sportsbooks such as Bookmaker.eu have posted a money line favoring the home team Flyers at a price of -155 on the NHL odds boards, but for some reason, as it stands right now, 60% of the betting public is siding with the underdog in this contest – even though the Capitals have had very little success against the Flyers when meeting up with them in Philadelphia.

In fact, Washington is just 9-21-1 in its last 31 matchups against Philadelphia when playing in the City of Brotherly Love.

Additionally, the Capitals are a poor 2-8 in their last ten games played on the road and 1-5 in their last six when facing an Atlantic Division opponent.

Meanwhile, Philadelphia is 5-2 in their last seven versus Southeast opponents, 5-1 in their last six games played on a Wednesday and a perfect 4-0 in their last four when following a game where they scored two goals or less.

When taking a look at the over/under, which is coming in at a total of 5 ½, it seems a bit low considering both teams are giving up an average of 3.1 goals per game. Furthermore, on offense, both teams are averaging just about 3 goals scored per contest.

That said, Washington is 15-7-4 under in their last 26 games overall and 30-13-8 under in their last 51 games versus Atlantic Division opponents.

However, Philadelphia has eclipsed the total in its last five games overall, including four straight on their home ice.

Going back 31 meetings in Philadelphia between the Capitals and Flyers, the over is a staggering 20-8-3.

The Pick

On paper, both teams seem evenly matched, but this is a home game for Philadelphia; and even though they are a modest 5-4, Washington has won just two games on the road all season.

Backing Philadelphia in this one seems like a steep price to pay at first look, but they will come away with a win tonight, cashing in NHL betting tickets for us bettors.

NHL Picks: Flyers -155
