The Vancouver Canucks scan win because…
They’re playing their best hockey of the season. If you’ve been betting the Canucks with your NHL picks of late, they’ve cashed for you in seven of their last eight. Even though they lost in Minnesota on Tuesday, it was via shootout. And don’t forget how tough it is to win in Minnesota these days as they are 14-3-2 at the Xcel Center, so coming close is a minor achievement.
The Stars success is contingent on goaltender Kari Lehtonen and right now, he’s not getting the job done. He’s just 2-5-3 in his last 10 with a 3.62 GAA. Considering the Canucks have allowed just 11 goals in their last eight games, they are going to have a big edge in net here.

The Dallas Stars can win because…
The Canucks are a streaky team. Sure, they had a seven-game winning streak but that was snapped by the Wild. The Canucks go from hot to cold and back on the turn of a dime, so who knows if that loss was a one-off or the start of a downward trend. The Canucks had lost eight of 10 prior to that winning streak.
As mentioned above, Dallas plays well in this series as they’ve won three in a row. That’s reason enough to add them to your sports picks.
Outlook & Pick
With the NHL odds at a PICK, I’ll take the team that’s been playing better of late. Vancouver is 7-0-1 in their last eight and Dallas doesn’t have a great home-ice advantage. They are just 6-8 at home this year. That being the case, I’ll take the Canucks.
