NHL Betting: Canucks vs. Predators Picks
Many people figured we’d see Nashville and Vancouver clash in the playoffs last season but both were unexpected ousted. Now the two teams will meet up for the first time in 2013 in Nashville and the Predators are a small favorite on the NHL odds.
Record: 51-58 (-570)
The Vancouver Canucks can win because…
Nashville isn’t playing great right now. Overall, they have just three wins in their last seven games but the bigger concern is the defense and goaltending. Nashville is among the league leaders with just 38 goals allowed this season but it’s startling to note that they’ve given up 12 in their last three games alone.
The Canucks play pretty well in Nashville as they have won five of their last seven trips there. The Preds aren’t a particularly strong home team as they are just 4-4 at home this year. The Canucks have the better offense of the two teams and that should lead the way to the win.
The Nashville Predators can win because…
The Canucks are slumping right now. They’re in the midst of a four-game road trip and have lost three of four. Even though they won last night in Dallas, the Canucks aren’t coming into this game with high spirits.
The difference between these teams is defense and goaltending. While the Canucks have given up at least four goals in four straight games, the Predators have been far more stingy with Pekka Rinne in net, who has a 1.67 GAA this season.
Outlook & Pick
Vancouver has played four straight contests where the final score resulted in 4-3. Clearly, their defense and their goaltending – like Nashville’s – has not been up to par.
With the NHL odds makers asking us to lay juice on the under with a low total of five, over is the hockey pick that makes more sense here.
