The Vancouver Canucks and St. Louis Blues could very well face-off in the first round of the playoffs. However, before the Blues even get there, they need to make sure they qualify. They are just one point away from missing the cut, so Tuesday’s home game with Vancouver will prove to be quite important.

Take a look at our daily NHL odds report.
The Vancouver Canucks can win because…
They are rolling these days. The Canucks have had a couple of hiccups in the last month but overall, they have won 11 of their last 14 games. Their offense is clicking as they’ve tallied 23 goals in their last six and their goaltending is staying strong with just nine goals allowed in that same span.
The Blues have gone sour with back-to-back losses. People making their NHL picks have to be concerned about their offense, which has totaled just five goals in their last five games. If Vancouver can find two or three goals, they should get the win.
The St. Louis Blues can win because…
The Canucks are going to be fatigued. Vancouver played last night in Nashville as well as Saturday in Colorado. That means they’ll be facing their third game in four nights in three different cities.
The Blues will have Brian Elliott back in net on Tuesday and he’s been stellar of late. He’s given up just two goals in his last four starts overall and four goals in his last four against Vancouver. If he plays well, the Blues will have a good shot to win.
Outlook & Pick
The NHL odds makers have the Blues favored – as they should be – but I still like the Canucks as a road dog. The Blues have lost two straight overall and three straight at home. Vancouver – even in a back-to-back situation – is worth a shot here.
