Our NHL consultant examines the puck-line wagering in tonight’s game between Buffalo and Vancouver. Join us in reading his detailed analysis pertaining to this topic and the article will conclude with his actual puck-line selection.

Ice Cold Buffalo in Vancouver
The Vancouver Canucks will host the Buffalo Sabres tonight at 10:05 PM ET. My area of concentration will be geared toward the puck-line in this contest. According to the NHL betting odds at Bookmaker, Vancouver is -1.5 (-120) and Buffalo +1.5 (+110) on the puck-line. This will be the first meeting of the season between these clubs. Vancouver won both of their games versus Buffalo a season ago, and outscored the Sabres by a cumulative score of 7-2 in those contests.

Absolutely Futile Stretch for the Sabres
The Buffalo Sabres enter tonight’s game having lost 13-games in a row, in addition to dropping 17 of the last 18 overall. During their current losing streak, they’ve seen ten of those thirteen defeats come by 2-goals or more, and have also seen thirteen of their previous seventeen losses by two or more goals.

The Rest Factor
The Vancouver Canucks should have a big advantage over the Buffalo Sabres tonight in terms of rest. This evening will be the Sabres 3rd road game in the last four days. Contrarily, the Canucks haven’t taken the ice since a 4-0 home loss to the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night. This will be the 2nd of a prolonged 6-game in twelve day home stand for Vancouver. It will also be just the 2nd game in the last eleven days for Vancouver due to the all-star break.

Special Teams Disparity
The Canucks hold a huge advantage in special teams over tonight’s opponent (Buffalo). Vancouver has converted on a very good 22.4% of their power play opportunities at home this season. They’re penalty killing overall has been superb. The Canucks have allowed the opposition to convert on just 12.8% of their power play opportunities during the 2014-2015 NHL campaign.

The Buffalo Sabres are ranked dead last in the NHL on both the power play and penalty killing categories. Buffalo has cashed in on just 10.4% of their man advantage opportunities on the season. They’ve been especially horrible when attempting to kill of penalties on the road. NHL teams have converted on an outstanding 31.8% of their power play chances at home when facing the Sabres.

The Goaltending
The Sabres will be without backup goaltender Michal Neuvirth for an extended period due to a lower body injury. As a result, the pressure falls all on the shoulders of Jonas Enroth. Unfortunately he hasn’t responded very well. Enroth has posted a horrible .844 save percentage in his previous four starts.

Vancouver will go with former long time Buffalo Sabre Ryan Miller in goal tonight. Miller has been outstanding in his last four starts as evidenced by his stellar .930 save percentage during those outings.

Final Analysis
There’s just way too much overwhelming data and evidence that supports the Vancouver Canucks tonight against this lowly Buffalo Sabres team. I’m going to suggest a puck-line wager on the home team for one of my NHL picks today.

NHL Pick: Play on Vancouver -1.5 (-120) over Buffalo on the puck-line at 5Dimes
