The Montreal Canadiens protected home-ice advantage in Game 6 and have extended the series to seven games. Again, we’re faced with a scenario where it seems the difference between the teams is a coin toss but the Bruins are a huge favorite on the NHL odds.

The Montreal Canadiens Can Win Because…
They’ve probably been the better team in this series. They held leads of 3-1 in each of Games 1, 2, and 3. Game 4 they lost in overtime by a fluky bounce. Game 5 was the only time they got worked over but other than that, they have appeared to be in the driver’s seat.

The key for them is to get the first goal. Boston’s – and Tuukka Rask’s – seems to shake when they fall behind. They’re a different team when trailing. If the Habs can get an early goal and take the crowd out of it, they’ll have a good shot to pull it off.

The Boston Bruins Can Win Because…
They’re at home in a Game 7. That’s crucial.

The Bruins didn’t get any bounces in Game 6. Had they had any luck, they would have scored at least two goals, missing empty nets and such. That type of luck swings from game to game and the Bruins should get more bounces in Game 7.

The key for them is putting more pucks at the net. When they have 30 or more shots, they are 3-1 in this series. When they have 29 or less, they are 0-2. For the odds to be in their favor, they need to get to that number.

Outlook & Pick
The Bruins are probably going to take Game 7 but the odds are too high on them. Think about it: if you’ve bet Boston every time in this series, you are down 1.7 units. This game is a toss-up. Therefore I’ll take the Habs with my NHL picks because of the value. They can definitely pull off this upset.

Pick: Habs +190 at Pinnacle
