It’s the second of four games between the Boston Bruins and the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday night and your Humble Handicapper is expecting a close game (and a decent profit).

Boston vs. Montreal

Your Humble Handicapper thinks that the Canadians will be looking for revenge as February's defeat brought to an end their five game home winning streak.

Last time these sides met, almost a month, ago Boston were 2-1 away winners. The Canadians will feel slightly aggrieved, as they were leading the Bruins by one goal at the start of the third period, but the visiting side scored twice in the final 20 to take the game. Montréal will feel even more aggrieved as they should have been more than 1-0 up with all their shots on goal, but Boston were kept in contention thanks to their goalkeeper Tuukka Rask, especially during first period where they were outshot 11 – 4. Rask ended the game with 21 saves and is expected to be back between the pipes on Sunday night. And for the record Rask is 7-0-1 with a 1.35 GAA over his last eight starts.

Enough with the super savings…WHERE’S THE MONEY MIKE?

Speaking of streaks Boston will be looking at their seventh consecutive win in Sunday night's clash between these two bitter rivals, and your Humble Handicapper is expecting it to be a hard fought and bloody affair.

The Boston Bruins are on a cracking start and in fact they haven't had a season start this good since the 1929 – 30 seasons and are on six straight wins following their 3-2 victory over Tampa Bay on Saturday.

Montréal had a considerably busier time in their most recent match but were on the wrong end of a 7-6 overtime loss to Pittsburgh. They were two goals down at one point so deserve kudos for fighting back, but conversely they were also ahead three times so I'm expecting them to be a little bit shaky when they head over to Boston. A Boston win is at -154 while a Montreal win is at +130 with the NHL odds boards.

The Canadians are now 7-0-3 in their last 10 and had the honour of outscoring their opponents 26 – 12 in their nine games before the defeat against the Penguins. Maybe a bet on the Canadiens is worth a pop, but I’m not backing that pony and I think a draw, offered up at +280 is the best Montreal can hope for.

Looking at a last season when these two sides met Boston came out on top four times from six meetings although one of those was 4-3 shootout victory, although that was the only SO between the two sides last season.

Boston's home record against Montréal last season saw two victories and one defeat however all of those games were decided in regulation, but each of those games was decided by a single goal, 2-1 twice and 3-2 once. Therefore despite all those goals of the game in Montréal's last match my wife’s smart money is on this game going under 5.5.

I think Boston has the momentum and the form. So, take them for your hockey picks to take down Montreal in regulation, but it's going to be close.
