The Buffalo Sabres started their post-Olympic break with a 3-2 win over the Carolina Hurricanes on Tuesday night. Now they’ll have a quick turnaround before facing their rivals from Boston on Wednesday night.

The Boston Bruins Can Win Because…

The Sabres are horrible. Yes, they won on Tuesday but take a look at their stretch before that. If you’ve been using them for your NHL picks, they’ve been costing you a pretty penny with losses in 11 of their previous 13. Goaltender Ryan Miller is being showcased for a trade and the team is going to get sold for whatever parts possible at the trade deadline.

Boston is one of the best teams in the conference. This should be an easy win for them as they’re refreshed while Buffalo is in a back-to-back situation.

The Buffalo Sabres Can Win Because….

The Bruins aren’t expected to have Tuukka Rask in net on Wednesday. The Bruins goaltender shined in the Olympics and seemingly regained his swagger. However, he’s not quite adjusted to the jetlag and he’ll get the night off.

Buffalo has a bit of momentum with a win on Tuesday. And while they are showcasing Miller, he’s been giving them opportunities to win. Although he had two bad starts going into the Olympic break, Miller has actually won 10 of his last 19 outings. That’s pretty impressive considering the Sabres only have 16 wins all season. With an edge in net, the Sabres might be worth a look with your sports picks.

Outlook & Pick

There’s no way I can lay this kind of juice and there’s no way I’m betting Buffalo. Instead, I’ll take the over. The Sabres are in a back-to-back situation and they’ve already faced Bruins backup Chad Johnson twice this season. The over has cashed both times and none of the team’s three meetings this year has stayed below five goals.
