Every game is a must win situtation for both teams. With this new wild card setting in the NHL, the Boston Bruins are the last team in at 91 points and still can be caught.

Face-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET tonight at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit, Michigan. According to the NHL betting odds, the Red Wings are around -110 betting favorite and the total for the game is 5 goals. The Bruins are feeling a major urgency to win games and responding, winning their last 3 games. It Tuukka Rask is in goal, even on the road, this could be a great spot for them as an underdog. Let's take a look at the goalie situation.

Starting Goalies
It's unconfirmed whether Rask will be in net, but the Red Wings have confirmed that Petr Mrazek will be in net. This is an important game for the Red Wings because they are far from being "out of the woods".

Mrazek has only started 26 games, but has played well. For the season he's 15-7-2 with a 2.47 GAA. He's coming off of a great showing against Ottawa, but the usual strong Detroit offense didn't show up as Mrazek swept aside 33 out of 34 shots in a 2-1 shootout loss.

Where Rask is concerned, he's won his last 2 games. He's already faced Detroit 3 times this season and is 2-1 with a 1.97 GAA against Detroit. We have to remember that Boston has one of the weaker offenses in the NHL and Rask would have to have a good game because he might not get sufficient goal support.

Patrice Bergeron
Center Patrice Bergeron leads the Bruins offensively in points (53) and putting major pressure on the opposing defense. However, his shot efficiency leaves a lot to be desired as it's under 10%. Nonetheless, this is a player that has had success against Detroit this season with 1 goal and 2 assists in 3 games and is the best offensive option that the Bruins have to offer tonight against Mrazek.

Datsyuk To Play
After a two week absence due to injuries, Pavel Datsyuk, will be back in the lineup tonight. This isn't good for the Bruins. In 59 games this season, Datsyuk has 24 goals and 36 assists. In 2 games against Boston this season, Datsyuk has 3 assists. He's also coming off of a 1 goal 1 assist performance against the New York Islanders in a 5-4 loss on March 29th. Imagine the production that Datsyuk would have this season if he were healthy for the entire year? Unlike Bergeron, this is a player that's shot efficiency is on point and with his presence, this has me leaning in Detroit's direction.

I don't know the goalie situation with Boston and I do with Detroit. This means that the Wings are ready to go and also have Datsyuk back in the lineup. Detroit simply has more firepower on offense with guys like Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg. The Red Wings are also at home and this doesn't hurt to go along with appealing odds. Detroit is the NHL pick in this matchup despite the Bruins playing well as of late.
