The Boston Bruins will be gunning for a sweep on Friday night when they host the visiting Pittsburgh Penguins in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

NHL Picks: Penguins vs. Bruins Game 4

Face off in this contest is scheduled for 8:00 pm EST from the TD Bank Garden in Boston, Massachusetts; and can be seen live on television with national broadcast coverage provided by the NBC Sports Network.

Sportsbooks are siding with the home team in this one, but at the smallest of margins, listing the Bruins as -115 favorites on the money line, while offering a price of -105 on the Penguins.

Bettors backing the Bruins also have the option of giving up -1 ½ goals, with a generous payback of +250 on the NHL odds. Taking the Penguins +1 ½ comes at a premium cost of -300 and is not worth the risk.

The games total is currently set at 5 ½ goals, with a price of -130 on the under, while bettors looking to make a play on the over will get back +110 on the NHL odds. It’s still early and of course numbers are always subject to change, but as it stands right now 53.3% of the money is coming in on the under.

Let’s take a look at both teams coming into this pivotal Game 4 matchup and determine where the best value lies for our NHL picks tonight.

The Penguins are stuck in a 3-0 hole, but they are a resilient team that can win games on the road. In fact, Pittsburgh has won 13 of their last 18 played on the highway and six of seven against the Bruins at the TD Bank Garden.

Additionally, the road team is an impressive 11-4 in the last 15 meetings between these adversaries.

Meanwhile, the Bruins are one win away from reaching the Stanley Cup Finals and have a chance to close out the Penguins on their home ice and celebrate in front of their faithful fans tonight.

The Bruins are riding a five game home winning streak and a four game winning streak in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Boston is also 6-1 in their last seven following a win in their prior matchup and 4-1 in their last five when playing on a full day of rest.

When Pittsburgh and Boston collide on the ice, you can expect a gritty low-scoring affair. Going back to their last ten meetings at the TD Bank Garden, the under is 8-1-1 as well as five of their last six matchups overall.

The Penguins are left for dead and I don’t see them making a comeback whatsoever. Backing the Bruins on their home ice to earn the series sweep is where the value is in this game.

Simply put, the Penguins will be eliminated after tonight’s Game 4 matchup.
