The Boston Bruins Can
Momentum is fully on their side. Although they’ve been fighting uphill throughout the early part of this series, they’ve now captured control, gotten ahead and have momentum. They’ve won two straight games and are starting to click on all cylinders.
The key has been the performance of goaltender Tuukka Rask. He’s outplayed Carey Price for two straight games, allowing just three goals in the process. Their power play is clicking (two-of-four in Game 5) and they’re finding ways to beat Price, who looked like a stone wall early in the series.
As long as they don’t give up too many power play opportunities to the Habs, they’ll be moving on after Game 6.
Canadiens Can Win Because…
They’ll find a way to push this to seven games. The Habs haven’t looked great in the last two games but it’s not as if they’ve been blown out. Game 5 got away from them a little bit but Game 4 was an overtime squeaker by Boston.
The Habs have to find a way to get the first goal as that’s been the difference in this series. When they can play with the lead, they are more relaxed and more confident. When they’re trailing, they don’t seem to play at the same level.
Look for them to be more disciplined, do a better job killing penalties and to find a way to take Game 6.
Outlook & Pick
This just has the feeling of a seven-game series. Although Boston has momentum right now, expect Montreal to throw their best punch in Game 6. Take them with your NHL picks as this series should go the distance.
