Canadiens Can Win Because…
They’ve been pushing the Bruins buttons for two games. Let’s face it: Boston has yet to really have a lead in this series. They trailed Montreal 2-0 and 3-2 in Game 1. In Game 2, they led 1-0 early but eventually were trailing 3-1 with nine minutes to go in the third period before they woke up. For the majority, they’ve been fighting from behind and it’s not an accident.
The Habs speed continues to bother the Bruins and they don’t seem to have any answers. Carey Price is also outplaying Tuukka Rask and if that continues, the Habs should be able to rebuild their series lead.
The Boston Bruins Can Win Because…
They’ve finally woken up. The Bruins have had the better scoring opportunities in this series but Price has kept the Habs in it. If more pucks start finding the back of the net – as they did in the latter stages of Game 2 – the Bruins should roll through. Montreal has played with the lead in both games but they haven’t been able to hold it. We’ll see how they play once the Bruins jump ahead and put them in a corner.
Boston has been the aggressor throughout and their physical play should start wearing on the Habs. They’ll keep crashing the net and throwing around their bodies, and that’s going to create more opportunities. Unless Price is unconscious once more, the Bruins are the choice for your NHL picks.
Outlook & Pick
This looks like a good spot to take Boston. We don’t have to lay a ton of juice with them and they figure to get – at least – a split with the Habs in Montreal. If they fail in Game 3, I’ll take them again in Game 4. This series should head back to Boston tied 2-2.
