The Boston Bruins and Detroit Red Wings squared off in Detroit last week and we successfully cashed the under with our NHL picks when the total was 5.5. Now it’s down to 5…is the same play still worthwhile?

The Boston Bruins Can Win Because…
Detroit is nothing special. The Red Wings have a win over Boston and a loss to Anaheim. That’s all they’ve done this season. Worse yet, the win over Boston is when the Bruins were a bit vulnerable, missing scorer David Krejci and also on the back end of a back-to-back situation.

The Bruins should have won on Monday but Colorado scored very late in the third period (fourth-tenths of a second left) to sneak one out. The Bruins haven’t played their best game yet but they’ll be focused – especially with some early season revenge on their minds.

The Detroit Red Wings Can Win Because…
The Bruins are really struggling. Last week, the Red Wings handed the Bruins their first loss of the season by a count of 2-1. The Bruins have gone on to lose two other games since and have had a really tough time on offense.

The Red Wings have won four straight regular season meetings in this series as the host. Tuukka Rask is now 0-3-0 against the Red Wings in the regular season with a total of 3.74. As for Red Wings goaltender Jimmy Howard, he’s 3-0-0 with a 1.67 GAA at home versus Boston in the regular season.

Outlook & Pick
Last week, the Bruins were a -125 favorite in Detroit and the total was 5.5. But now that the Bruins have lost three straight and have scored just two goals, they are down to -110 on the NHL odds board and the total has been lowered to 5.

With a much cheaper price this time around, take the Bruins here. They should get back on track and get the win. Take Boston with your NHL picks.
