The St. Louis Blues finally ended their ugly five-game losing streak in Detroit on Wednesday but unless they can sort their goaltending situation out, they’ll find themselves back in the losing column.

NHL Betting: Blues vs. Flames Picks

However, the Calgary Flames have goaltending woes of their own, which is why they find themselves as a home dog n the NHL odds on Friday.

Record: 38-46 (-776)

The St. Louis Blues can win because…

The Flames are not a very good team at all. While the Blues have struggled after a hot start, the Flames weren’t any good to begin with. The Flames most recent 7-4 win over Dallas was only the team’s second home win of the season in seven tries.

The Flames defense has been terrible all season as only two Western Conference teams have allowed more goals than them. They’ve only allowed less than three goals in three of their 11 games this season.

The Calgary Flames can win because…

They’ve been playing well recently. With the goaltending being shoddy, the Flames offense has picked up the pace with 17 goals in their last five games. They are coming off a seven-goal outburst against Dallas, which was their highest scoring total of the season.

The Blues are a wreck these days as they’ve won just once in their last six. Their once-vaunted defense has coughed up at least three goals in six straight games while allowing an average of 4.8 goals per contest. The Flames should light the lamp several times in this one.

Outlook & Pick

Both teams are having serious issues in net. Both continue to give up goals at an alarming rate and that shouldn’t change on Friday because of the special teams. These are the two top teams in regards to power play and both penalty kills units are very weak. Take the over in this game for your NHL picks.
