The Chicago Blackhawks will visit the Minnesota Wild in a game featured on the NHL Network on Wednesday night. The Wild have lost four of five while the Blackhawks have six of seven. Do we believe that those trends will continue tonight, and how are we looking to place our NHL picks.

The Chicago Blackhawks can win because…

The Chicago Blackhawks have been fantastic. on the road this season. People who’ve added the Blackhawks to their NHL picks in road games have seen them cash in 11 of their 15 road games. They’ve won six straight away games and have allowed just 10 goals in the process. They’ve also scored the most away goals this season (51), so when you do the math, you see why they’re such a good road bet.

As if that’s not enough, the Blackhawks are also 7-0-3 in their last 10 in Minnesota. Everything is lined up for them in this spot, and listed at -130, the NHL odds makers agree.

The Minnesota Wild can win because…

Josh Harding has been nearly impossible to beat at home. Harding is an incredible 11-1-0 at home this season and he’s 3-0-0 with a 1.15 GAA in his last four against Chicago. That alone is going to give the Wild plenty of confidence that they can take down the Blackhawks.

Harding leads the league with a 1.45 GAA and he has yet to allow more than three goals in any of his 22 starts this season. That means the Wild should be very competitive in this one.

Outlook & Pick

This is much more of a toss-up than you might think. The Blackhawks are on a tear but the Wild have been spotless at home with Harding in net. Instead of taking sides, I’ll add the under to my sports picks. Given how Harding plays at home and given that the Blackhawks have allowed just 10 goals in their last six away games should lead to a low-scoring affair.
