The Minnesota Wild’s home and away splits trend continued in Game 5. Their performance dipped again in a road game and now they’re facing a must-win situation in Game 6. Can they cash on the NHL odds and survive?

The Chicago Blackhawks Can Win Because…
The Wild haven’t really threatened them. Chicago has been in the driver’s seat in this series and it’s really just a matter of effort. When they’re ready to put the pedal to the metal, the Wild aren’t really able to hang around. That was evident in Game 5 after the Wild went ahead 1-0. The Blackhawks looked like they wouldn’t be denied in their comeback attempt.

Now is their chance to go for the kill. The Stanley Cup champs have done this many times over the last couple of seasons. Look for them to rely on their experience and leaders once more.

The Minnesota Wild Can Win Because…
They play great at home. Do you really need another reason? They’re now 1-6 on the road this postseason, scoring just 2.8 goals per game compared to 5-0 at home where they average 3.2 goals per game.

Goaltending is the main difference, as they have allowed just five goals in their five home games, compared to 4.0 goals per game on the road. The home-away splits really matter here. That’s why you should take the Wild with your NHL picks.

Outlook & Pick
The Wild have been in this position before (see: Round 1). They really pushed the Blackhawks in Game 5, challenging more than they expected to get challenged. I expect them to take care of business in Game 6 and force this series to go the distance.
