Will the Anaheim Ducks have a short memory after losing their last two on home ice? How will the Detroit Red Wings respond after a scintillating 7-6 come from behind win at Dallas on Saturday? We have those answers and much more in our betting preview article which culminates with a money line selection.

Red Wings at the Honda Center in Anaheim
The Anaheim Ducks will entertain the Detroit Red Wings tonight at 10:05 PM ET. According to the NHL betting odds at BetOnline, Anaheim is a -145 money line favorite, and the posted total is 5.5. The Ducks have won each of their last three meetings against the Red Wings.

Where they Stand
The Ducks enter tonight on top of the Pacific Division standings, and have a ten point lead over second place Vancouver. If the regular season were to end today, the Ducks would be the #2 seed in the Western Conference. The Detroit Red Wings currently reside third in the Atlantic Division just five points behind first place Montreal. Detroit has lost just fourteen of their fifty-seven games this season during regulation time. Ten of the Red Wings twenty-four losses against the money line were decided in overtime.

Max Out Tonight's Profit With Our NHL Picks of the Day

Red Wings Update
The Detroit Red Wings may be without the services of leading scorer Henrik Zetterberg for tonight’s game. Zetterberg suffered a head injury in their 7-6 win at Dallas on Saturday. The Red Wings captain didn’t practice on Sunday, and is in jeopardy of missing his first game of the season. Speaking of that 7-6 win, the Red Wings were able to overcome a pair of two goal deficits in the third period of that contest. Detroit has gone a profitable 16-12 against the money line on the road this season.

Ducks Data
Anaheim’s John Gibson will in all likelihood be the starting goaltender for the sixth consecutive game. Gibson has been shouldering the load as Frederik Andersen remains sidelined by a neck injury. He’s gone 3-2 in those previous five starts with a 2.82 GAA. The Ducks enter tonight having won two in a row after losing four of their previous five. The Ducks have gone a solid 19-11 against the money line at home this season, and have made $100 a game NHL bettors a small $250 profit at the Honda Center in Anaheim. However, they’ve lost each of their previous two games on home ice.

Final Analysis
The Red Wings have been dominant when facing Western Conference opponents this season by going 14-4 against the money line. For whatever the reason, the Ducks have been an average 12-11 in nonconference games during the 2014-2015 NHL campaign. My lack of confidence in John Gibson pushes me over the edge when assessing my NHL picks for Monday.

NHL Pick: Detroit +125 over Anaheim on the money line at BetOnline.
