Sabres on Circus Road Trip
The Buffalo Sabres have showed some promise this season, but it has only led to a three-point bump in the standings through the first 28 games of the season. Last year at this time, the Sabres sported a horrendous -41 goal differential. While that number that improved to -11 so far in 2015, the Sabres are still a long ways away from becoming a contending team. Buffalo remains near the bottom of the NHL in 5-on-5 Corsi % and dead last in that category over the last ten games. 19-year-old center Jack Eichel has put the Sabres in the national spotlight a few times this season with tremendous displays of skill, injecting new life into the power play unit as well. Buffalo owns the 8th-ranked power play in the NHL, converting on 21.3% of their opportunities so far this season.

Flames Getting Production from Jones
The Calgary Flames notched their seventh win in a row at the Scotiabank Sattledome on Tuesday night against the San Jose Sharks. Their 4-2 victory over the Sharks marked the team’s 11th win of the season, but it was only their fourth regulation win of the year. Goaltender Karri Ramo allowed two goals in the Sharks’ first six shots, but managed to make 27 straight stops to help seal the win. Calgary got goals from Markus Grunlund, Sean Monahan, Michael Frolik, and Mikhael Backlund to extend the longest home winning-streak since 2013.

The Buffalo Sabres are:

19-68 in their last 87 road games.

17-70 in their last 87 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game.

5-22 in their last 27 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600.

The Calgary Flames are:

7-0 in their last 7 home games.

9-2 in their last 11 when their opponent allows 5 goals or more in their previous game.

20-8 in their last 28 vs. a team with a winning % below .400.

Betting Analysis
The Flames are playing their best hockey of the season at the Scotiabank Sattledome right now. Calgary notched quality wins Bruins, Sharks, Stars, and Blackhawks in their last four games. The Flames are last in the NHL in goals against and power play percentage, but their special teams’ unit got on the board with a tally against the Sharks. Take Calgary as the NHL pick to continue its momentum at home on Thursday night against the NHL odds.
