The St. Louis Blues will be looking to end a two-game losing streak when they host the Winnipeg Jets at the Scottrade Center on Monday night. Find out which side our NHL picks are on.

This isn’t football but look for a blowout here!
A football score–or at least a first-quarter football score–saw Winnipeg drop its fifth game in succession on Saturday night. The Jets lost by a touchdown and an extra points, or 7-0 for those counting, at Nashville.

They got out-shot 34-20, lost 35 face-offs while winning 27, and racked up an outrageous 84 penalty minutes (the Predators incurred 72 minutes).

“I don’t think that you are going to find a guy in here who is happy about the way anything went tonight,” Winnipeg captain Andrew Ladd assured. “We’ll stick together and find a way to get out of this little funk that we are in, and at the end of it, we will be better team because of it.”

But when? This is becoming a trend for the Jets as opposed to a one-game aberration. They have allowed at least five goals in three straight outings.

Head-to-head dominance
The Blues are 8-2 in their last 10 games against Winnipeg, including 5-1 in their last six at home in the head-to-head series.

An Oct. 18 meeting that was the two teams’ first of the season went St. Louis’ way. Ken Hitchcock’s club stormed into Winnipeg and came away with a 4-2 victory. Forward Vladimir Tarasenko scored twice for the Blues, who out-shot the Jets 41-29 and won the face-off battle 40-32.

Tarasenko, 23, has 10 goals and six assists so far this season. He boasts three goals in his last two games after lighting the lamp twice in a 4-2 loss to Chicago on Saturday. The Russian has four goals and two assists in his last five outings.

The Winnipeg Jets are:
0-5 in their last five overall
0-4 in their last four road games
1-4 in their last five games against the Western Conference

The St. Louis Blues are:
8-2 in their last 10 games against the Western Conference
8-2 in the last 10 meetings between the two teams
5-1 in their last six home games against Winnipeg

Although St. Louis is on a minor slide right now, Tarasenko is on a tear. He should help them snap out of it sooner rather than later and no opponent can cure ills right now quite like Winnipeg. The Jets are 0-5 in their last five overall, 0-4 in their last four road games, and 2-8 in the last 10 head-to-head meetings. Count on the trends continuing tonight and make your NHL Pick on the Blues.
