The Pittsburgh Penguins have gotten their season back on track with consecutive wins after three straight losses. Can they cash a home win against the Panthers? Check our NHL pick inside.

Momentum
The Panthers have allowed an average of 1.8 goals per game through their first five contests but that includes a 4-2 loss to the Dallas Stars on Saturday night that halted their momentum following consecutive wins. Now Florida is entering a tough three-game road trip that takes them to Pittsburgh, Chicago and Dallas and it will be very interesting to see how they respond.

The Penguins might not have found their offensive flare just yet but they do have some momentum following consecutive wins over the Ottawa Senators and Toronto Maple Leafs. Pittsburgh allowed just one goal over those two wins and will look to carry over the momentum at home where they are playing their third contest of a four-game home stand.

Projected Starting Goalies
Marc-Andre Fleury has been key to the Penguins turnaround as he has stopped 48 of the last 49 shots that he has faced over back-to-back wins. Pittsburgh should be able to find a way to spark its offense sooner rather than later but Fleury has proven that he can keep his team in every game early on this season.

Meanwhile, Roberto Luongo has been excellent for Florida with a 1.34 GAA and .959 save percentage through three games. The Panthers have committed to being a better team at both ends of the ice and they will need Luongo to step up again in order to keep the Penguins offense from breaking out against them on Tuesday night.

What’s The Pick?
The Penguins still haven’t been able to figure out how to click on offense. After reloading with the addition of Phil Kessel to a lineup that already featured Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, Patric Hornqvist, Chris Kunitz and David Perron, the expectations were high for the Penguins up front. We all thought that they would score goals in bunches. However, Pittsburgh has averaged just 1.4 goals per game through its first five contests and it won’t get any easier for them on Tuesday night against a team that ranks third in goals against average so far this season.

Florida could very well be a better team than most experts actually think they are right now with both talent and depth at all three levels but they will be in tough on the road against a Penguins team playing with a strong sense of urgency as they try to climb back to .500. Crosby doesn’t have a single point through the first five games of the year but it is only a matter of time before he breaks through. Pittsburgh has too much firepower to stay down for long but they have proven they can win low scoring games at home and will be looking to make it three straight with the Panthers in town.

Look for Florida to keep the Penguins offense in check but it’s hard to back them on the NHL odds in this spot because we’re not sure who they are and they’re on the road. As a result, go under with your NHL picks.
