The Flames come into this game off a big road win which broke a mini two game slide, while Chicago comes in off a tough game vs St Louis on Saturday. Prior to that, Chicago had won just 2 of 7.

Flames Shock Capitals In OT
The Calgary Flames had just five win all year and they had just lost their first two games of the road trip to Florida and Tampa Bay, but on Friday night it was a different story as they went into the Verizon Center to take on the much stronger Capitals and they walked out with the win. The game was won on a goal by Sean Monahan in OT. The 21-year-old center is starting to play like the Flames thought he would. With that goal he now leads the team in scoring with six and is tied for second on the team in points with 13.

In goal was Karri Ramo, who is now just 4-7 with a3.36 GAA on the year. He should get the start in this one as well and he has gone 1-1 with a 3.70 GAA in his career vs Chicago. The Flames come in ranked 19th in the league in scoring (2.4 gpg) and 21st on the power play (16.7%), while at the defensive end of the ice they are ranked dead last in the league in goals allowed (3.0 gpg) and 27th in penalty kill (75%).

Chicago Is Struggling On Defense
Prior to their road game with St Louis on Saturday night, the Chicago Blackhawks had won just two of their last seven games and a big part of that has been their play in the crease. Chicago is ranked 15th in the league in goals allowed, giving up 2.6 gpg, but in their last seven games they have allowed 3.57 gpg. Nearly a goal more than their season average. Prior to their last seven games this was the same team that had two shutouts in a row.

Maybe help is on the way as the Blackhawks have activated defensemen Michal Rozsival and Duncan Keith from IR. Both were an important part of Chicago’s Stanley Cup run last year and both are slated to get playing time on Saturday night vs the Blues. Corey Crawford has really struggled in goal of late as he has gone 1-3 and has allowed 14 goals in the four games. He won’t get the start tonight as he is playing on Saturday night, so it will be Scott Darling getting the start and he is 1-2 with a 3.11 GAA on the year.

Calgary is: 3-12 in their last 15 road games 7-19 in their last 26 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation

Chicago is: 49-11 in their last 60 vs. a team with a winning percentage below .400 14-2 their last 16 at home in this series

Chicago is struggling and they are playing with no rest, but still they need this win and they have owned the Flames in this building the least few years. Calgary is not a good road team and they don’t have what it takes to pull their second big road upset in a row. A desperate Chicago team will take this one.
