The Chicago Blackhawks are in the driver’s seat as we enter game 6 of the Stanley Cup in which they lead the Boston Bruins 3-2.

Closing out the series will still be tough as the Hawks will be on enemy ice and might be without leading scorer Jonathan Toews.

Face-off is scheduled for Monday at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts and can be seen on the NBC Network.

Bet 365 Sportsbook lists the Bruins as a -135 betting odds favorite and the total for the game is a measly 4 ½ goals +125.

Will Chicago get to parade around enemy territory with the Cup in hand or are we going back to the United Center for a game 7?

Patrice Bergeron was injured in game 5, but he’s expected to play tonight and the Bruins are much deeper at the center position.

Kane Delivers

The Blackhawks are coming off of a game at home in which they put the pressure on Tuuka Rask and dominated in all of the key facets of the game.

Aside from dealing with Boston’s usual physical style of play, the Blackhawks led in takeaways 21-9, shots, faceoffs won, 33-24, and had a 32-25 advantage where shots on goal are concerned.

The Hawks got a huge goaltending performance from Corey Crawford and superstar, Patrick Kane, was the difference in this game.

Kane had 6 shots on goal, but more importantly, set the tone for the game as he scored a goal nearly 3 minutes into the game and the winning goal in the 2nd period. Jonathan Toews assisted on both goals and the Blackhawks desperately need Toews for game 6 .Toews’ status is up in the air as the Blackhawks attempt to avoid a game 7.

For Boston, it’s simple; make sure that Patrice Bergeron gets to the arena healthy. Before getting injured in game 5, Bergeron had 3 goals and 13 shots on goal in his previous 2 games. You see by the betting total that goals have been hard to come by in this series and although Boston has a bunch of hard hitting thugs, they’ve had a problem putting the puck in the net.

Milan Lucic has been a key player, scoring a point in each of the last two games and a game high 8 hits in game 5, but it wasn’t enough as Chicago has taken complete control of this series.

Head injuries are serious and the injury to Jonathan Toews is poor timing. If Toews does play, will he be at 100%? Look for Patrick Kane to take over here. Most people think that this series is headed back to Chicago with Boston’s rough style of play. For my NHL picks, I look for the Blackhawks to celebrate on the road.
