A couple of matchups on the NHL slate for Thursday night provide more value than the other games positioned on the NHL odds boards. Take a look at where we are heading with our picks tonight.

Thursday Value Plays In The NHL

Kings vs. Blues

The Los Angeles Kings (18-12-2) will be on the road tonight when they a pay a visit to the Scottrade Center to take on the St. Louis Blues (17-13-2) in matchup that offers good value on the NHL odds boards. Find out which team we believe is in the better spot to cash in a winning ticket at the sportsbooks.

The Blues have been pegged as -130 money line favorites by most of the larger online sportsbooks, but the Kings have won four of the last five meetings against the Blues when facing them in St. Louis.

The Kings own a below .500 record on the road this season, having won 6 games in 15 opportunities played on the highway, but the Blues are a modest team on their home ice with just an 8-7 record so far this season, though they have won four of their last five.

However, the Kings have beaten the Blues seven consecutive times overall and seem to have their number, so backing Los Angeles at +110 is where the value lies for your NHL picks in this game.

NHL Pick: Kings +110

Avalanche vs. Canucks

The Colorado Avalanche (11-17-4) will not only attempt to snap their current three-game skid tonight, but they will also look to win for the first time in eight meetings at the Rogers Center when they face the Vancouver Canucks (18-9-6) in a matchup that features two rivals from the Northwest Division heading in different directions.

As expected, the NHL odds boards heavily favor the home team in this one, listing a price tag of -210 on Vancouver, who will try and win for the sixth time in as many outings.

Colorado has been an awful road team this season, winning just two games in 16 outings played away from the Pepsi Center. But, when you are a bad team the location doesn’t matter much, as they are just 1-7 in their last eight games overall.

Meanwhile, the Canucks simply own the Avalanche, winning 20 of the last 26 overall meetings. I almost never recommend laying such high odds on the favorite, but the Avalanche offer no value in this contest and should get crushed by the Canucks tonight.
