The Avalanche have had a very nice road trip as they have won all three on it so far. Wll they be able to keep it up? Check inside for NHL odds analysis and free NHL picks for this game.

Colorado Avalanche (7-9-1-0 SU, 11-6 PL, 8-8-1 OU) vs Toronto Maple Leafs (5-9-1-3 SU, 11-7 PL, 7-11-0 OU)
The Line: Colorado -115
Total: 5.5

Avs Rout Habs For Third Win In A Row
The Colorado Avalanche did not have a good start to their year, but they have picked it up on this current road trip. The trip started with a 4-0 win in Philly and then was followed by a 3-2 win in Boston, before routing the Canadiens 6-1 on Saturday night. Nathan MacKinnon had a big game as he scored twice, while also adding an assist, while Matt Duchene scored once and had two assists. Duchene has been the subject of recent trade talk, but so far nothing has come of it, and he is tied with Mackinnon for the team lead in goals with eight.

Coming up big in goal was Reto Berra, who stopped 39 shots in the win. He has now won all three games of this trip, allowing a total of just three goals in those games. He should get the start here and is 4-3 with a 1.50 GAA on the year, while vs the Maple Leafs in his career he has gone 1-0 with a 2.77 GAA. Colorado has been solid offensive club this year as they come in ranked 8th in scoring at 2.9 gpg, while on defense they have been very average, ranking 18th in goals allowed at 2.6 gpg.

Loss To Rangers Snaps Three Game Win Streak
The Toronto Maple Leafs had a nice little three game win streak going, but then a trip to New York ended it, as they fell to the Rangers by a score of 4-3. Still this team is playing much harder right now and did have a chance to win the game vs the Rangers. Toronto fought hard all game and had tied it up when Dion Phaneuf scored just five minutes into the third period. It stayed that way until New York Mats Zuccarello scored with just 54 seconds left in regulation to seal the deal.

Peter Holland scored his 3rd goal of the year, while Joffrey Lupul notched his 7th of the season, which leads the team. Absorbing the loss was Jonathan Bernier, who is having a very bad year as he is now 0-8 with a 3.17 GAA. James Reimer should be back in goal for this one and he is 5-5 with a 2.30 GAA on the year, while vs the Avs he has gone 0-2 with a 2.19 GAA in his career. Toronto checks in at 25th in the league in scoring (2.2 gpg) and 21st in goals allowed (2.8 gpg).

Trends for Colorado:
10-4 in their last 14 vs. Atlantic

4-1 in the last five meetings in Toronto

Trends for Toronto:
2-10 in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a winning road record

13-38 in their last 51 vs. a team with a losing record

Both teams are playing surprisingly good hockey at the moment, and the NHL odds are looking strong, but I feel that what Colorado has done has been a bit more impressive. It’s not every day a team hangs a 6-1 loss on the Canadiens in their own building. The Avalanche have the much better offense and they also have the hotter goalie in Reto Berra, who has allowed a total of three goals in his last three starts (all wins). For your NHL picks, look for Colorado to win their 4th in a row on the road here.
