Can Montreal finally clinch the series after failing to do so this last 2 games? Will Ottawa turn in another superb performance to force a winner take all Game 7? Find out in this NHL betting preview.

High Drama expected for Game 6 between Montreal and Ottawa
The Ottawa Senators will host the Montreal Canadiens on Sunday at 6:05 PM ET. This will be Game 6 of their Eastern Conference Quarterfinals playoff series in which Montreal holds a 3-2 lead. These teams have seen just three of their last thirteen meetings stay under the total, and two of those have come in this series. The home team has also gone 18-8 in the previous twenty-six encounters between these Atlantic Division rivals.

Needing to regain the Momentum
The Montreal Canadiens desperately need to seize the momentum back in this series. After jumping out to what seemed as an insurmountable 3-0 series lead, they’ve dropped each of the last two games, including being blown out at home 5-1 in Game 5. If they can’t rebound to win in Ottawa on Sunday, all of a sudden they’ll be facing an unexpected deciding Game 7 at home. Carey Price will be looking to bounce back from allowing five goals in Game 5. It was just the second time all season that Price had allowed five goals in a game, and ironically the only other time was during a 5-2 home loss at the hands of Ottawa on March 12th.

Senators riding Red-Hot Anderson
The complexion of this series changed since Ottawa inserted Craig Anderson in goal for Game 3. In his three starts since, Anderson has been nothing short of sensational, stopping 120 of 123 Montreal shots on goal (.976 save percentage), and posting a shutout in Game 4. He was spectacular in making 45 saves at the Bell Center in Montreal on Thursday during Ottawa’s win which forced a Game 6. The Senators have gone a stellar 5-for-16 (31.2%) on the power play in this series. They’ve also held Montreal to a dismal 1-for-19 (5.3%) on their man advantage opportunities. Ottawa enters Sunday’s game 23-9 in their last thirty games overall.

Final Analysis
The 3-0 series deficit that Ottawa had to start the series was a bit deceiving. All three of those losses came by exactly one goal, and two of the three were decided in overtime. It’s tough to fade a red-hot goaltender (Anderson) at home in an elimination game. I’m not going to test the waters in that regard, and like the home team to force a Game 7 in this series for one of my NHL picks on Sunday.
