The Flyers just can’t seem to shake their losing ways. They’ve now dropped 3 of four and eight of 13. Tonigh they’ll try to get back on track even as a home dog according to NHL odds.

The St. Louis Blues Can Win Because…
The Flyers are a mess right now. Philadelphia has dropped three of four and is basically tuning out head coach Craig Berube. This is a team that downsized at the trade deadline and everyone knows they aren’t going to be competing for a playoff spot.

The Flyers do have a better home record than road record, but the problem is that it hasn’t mean much lately. The Flyers are 3-4 in their last seven home games with losses at home to the Columbus Blue Jackets and Buffalo Sabres. That’s pathetic. If they’re going to blow layups like that, the Blues are going to present some real problems for them. And while a number of people will point out that the Blues offense has tapered off in February, so did the Flyers’. Philadelphia averaged 2.25 goals per games in February, which ranks them 25th in the NHL.

The Blues are a healthy 18-10-3 on the road this season, so don’t shy away in this spot – especially since there’s a reasonable price tag at -125 on NHL betting odds board.

The Philadelphia Flyers Can Win Because…
The Blues aren’t playing that well either. The Blues have dropped three of five and have not looked particularly strong in the process. Their two wins were one-goal results while their three losses were by a combined five goals. Goaltender Brian Elliott has been up and down as he’s coming off a month where he posted a .910 save percentage, which is just so-so. And then there’s the weird situation that happened last game: Jake Allen started, Elliott came in to relieve him in the third period, gave up a goal and decided to pull himself, and then had words with head coach Ken Hitchcock. This is not an ideal situation right now as the Blues appear to be having some issues.

If we do end up seeing Allen in net, that should only help the Flyers. Allen has given up nine goals in his last two outings and has a 2.74 GAA on the road this season. Philadelphia definitely has their issues but at least they are decent at home with an 18-8-6 record compared to just 9-17-6 when on the road.

Outlook
Even though the Blues had a hiccup with their goaltending in their latest outing, under seems to make the most sense in this spot. Steve Mason is expected in net for the Flyers and five of his last six starts have seen five goals or less.

And while the Blues are the fifth-highest scoring team in the NHL, those numbers haven’t been up to snuff this month. On the season, they have averaged 3.00 goals per game but that number dipped to 2.43 in February. Take the Under with your NHL picks.
