Dear NHL bettors and fans: read on why we're willing to lay a bigger price than normal on Wednesday, this time on Nashville, and how you can also perhaps wager on the 2017-18 expansion Vegas Golden Knights right now.

2016-2017 NHL Pick Record:  23-17 (+13.84 units)

We seem to say this a lot, but we have set a new standard for our bankroll as the Carolina Hurricanes came from behind to cash a ticket for us Tuesday. Tonight, we're going to take a different route because of our confidence in the play.  Once in awhile, we step out of character.

But first, the hockey world on Tuesday was introduced to the league's 31st team when the Vegas Golden Knights' brand was officially introduced at Las Vegas' T-Mobile Arena.  What does that mean from an NHL betting perspective right now?  Some of SBR's best sportsbooks have already put up numbers on win totals even though there's no roster in place.

Dallas Stars At Nashville Predators

On to our play tonight -- and have to feel really good about a play to lay more than -150 on NHL odds. The Predators are hosting the Central Division rival Stars.  It's a must to shop for the best line because of how much we are being asked to lay with Nashville, but I feel with our bankroll in a great spot that it's OK to take a chance.

Despite a 3-2 overtime victory in Minnesota on Monday, the Dallas defense has been as unreliable as it gets.  The Stars have started to play better, but not to the point where I can rely on them to put consistent efforts together. Now coach Lindy Ruff says that he's not sure if defenseman John Klingberg would play vs. Nashville after being a healthy scratch Monday due to missing a team meeting.  That's not a good look for a team that needs its defensemen to step up. Ruff doesn't mess with lineups after a win so that provides an interesting situation.

Much more impressive was the Predators' play in a 3-1 victory over the Tampa Bay Lightning.  It was a victory that has given me confidence that the Predators are creating more scoring chances. Plus netminder Pekka Rinne is really finding his groove.
