Were going to exploit the bookmakers once again on Friday in hockey action, this time on New Jersey at -123 on NHL odds against the visiting Detroit Red Wings.

2016-2017 NHL Picks Record: 25-17 (+15.99 units)

Everything we touch seems to turn into a winner now, but as you know in the NHL picks business this doesn't always last so let's build until we find that rough ice again. Since sitting at 17-15 we've hit eight out of 10 to put a +20 unit bankroll in sight.  Makes the Thanksgiving holiday seem that much sweeter.

Let's keep the NHL winners coming, but first let's take a look at who the public is betting Friday as the schedule gets an early start.

Money is starting roll in on the Boston Bruins as we see 82% of all early action coming in on the B's against the Calgary Flames. I've been high on the Bruins for most of the year, but this is what I call a crossroad game.  Boston who has lost two straight to the St. Louis Blues and Ottawa Senators, respectively, and desperately need this win to maintain my confidence.  I can forgive them for their recent losses, but if the Bruins drop a home game against Calgary they must fall into the middle of the pack in my power ratings. I agree with the public, but we still are walking the fine line of getting a quality line when betting with the NHL consensus picks.

The Washington Capitals are right behind the Bruins in public betting as 81% of tickets written are on the Caps against Buffalo, but are we really going to lay -205 to get a perceived easy win?  That's not the way we bet our bankroll.

Following those bets are San Jose and Dallas at 78% of the bets but, again, they are at least -200 favorites. This is where the typical bettor gets in trouble as all of Friday's popular bets are asking the player to lay too much.

So lets get on to a more player friendly selection.

The Devils are hosting the Red Wings and its another example of the Wings carrying some name power with the bookmakers keeping the NHL odds price away from where it should be. Detroit is one of the worst teams in the NHL but still gets some support because of its previous success.

Detroit has dropped 10 of its last 14 road games, while the Devils are 6-1 against teams with a losing record at home in their last seven attempts. The Wings needed a shootout to end their four-game losing streak against the depleted Sabres Wednesday.  You can get this line at -123, but I would suggest that you get it quick because it's much higher in other places.
