Our NHL totals continue to cash at a winning rate for the season. We’re going to share our two top totals for Thursday. Take time to read our informative betting article, & find our picks for today.

Anaheim Ducks vs. Boston Bruins 7:05 PM ET
According to the NHL betting odds at Pinnacle, the posted total in this game is 5.0. This is the second and final meeting of the season between these teams, and Anaheim won 3-2 at home in the only other encounter.

The Anaheim Ducks have allowed 12-goals during their previous two games. The Ducks have seen just one of their last five games stay under the total, and they’ve scored 3-goals or more in four of those contests. Frederik Andersen is slated to be in goal this evening for Anaheim. Andersen has struggled mightily in his previous four starts, evidenced by a horrible .836 save percentage. He’s also seen just four of his fourteen starts this season go under the total when facing an Eastern Conference opponent.

The Boston Bruins have seen just six of their previous twenty games (30%) stay under the total. The Bruins enter today’s game on a five game losing streak, and they’ve allowed 3.4 goals per contest during that time. Tuukka Rask is scheduled to be between the pipes for Boston on Thursday. He’s been shaky in his last four starts, compiling an unimpressive .889 save percentage during those outings.

NHL Pick: Play on Anaheim and Boston to go over the total of 5.0 at Pinnacle.

Pittsburgh Penguins vs.  Carolina Hurricane 7:05 PM ET
The NHL betting odds at 5Dimes lists the total in this game at 5.0. This will be the third meeting of the season between these Eastern Conference teams. Pittsburgh won the first two by scores of 3-2 at Carolina, and 2-1 at home.

The Pittsburgh Penguins have failed to see any of their previous four games go over the total, and they’ve seen just two of their last nine surpass the number. Pittsburgh has gone under the total in each of their previous five games on the road, and there was just an average of 2.6 goals combined scored per contest. The offensively talented Penguins have been in a horrid goal scoring drought recently, tallying an anemic 7-goals combined in their previous six games.

The Carolina Hurricanes haven’t seen any of their previous six games go over the total. Similar to their opponent (Pittsburgh) on Thursday, the Hurricanes have been in stuck in a terrible goal scoring slump as well. Ironically, they’ve also scored exactly 7-goals combined in their previous six games. Carolina has gone over the total in only seven of their thirty six games (19.4%) at home this season.

It doesn’t take a brain surgeon to read the prior two paragraphs, and determine this game has all the ear marks of a low scoring affair. Sometimes it’s just best to keep it simple, and I’m going trust the process when making my NHL picks for Thursday.

NHL Pick: Play on Pittsburgh and Carolina to go under the total of 5.0 at 5Dimes.
