This NHL handicapper shares his two top Money Line picks on Sunday’s card, including the Carolina Panthers vs. Columbus Blue Jackets and Boston Bruins vs. Washington Capitals.
Carolina Hurricanes vs. Columbus Blue Jackets 5:05 PM ET
The NHL odds at Heritage has Columbus as a -143 money line favorite in this contest. This will be the fourth meeting of the season between these teams, and Carolina has won two of the first three.
Carolina Moving Further Down South
The Carolina Hurricanes enter today’s Eastern Conference game losers of the last three, and five of their previous six games. They’re coming off a 2-0 loss at Florida on Saturday, and despite allowing just two goals in that loss, opponents have averaged a robust 3.8 goals per game during the last six versus the Hurricanes. Carolina is slated to go with Anton Khudobin in goal today, and he’s gone a dismal 1-7 in his previous eight starts with a lofty 3.54 GAA.
Jackets Steadying the Ship
After going through a recent seven game losing streak, Columbus has rebounded to win four of the last five, and has won each of their previous three. In all likelihood it will be Sergei Bobrovsky between the pipes for today’s game, and he’s gone 3-1 in his previous four starts with a stellar .931 save percentage. This looks to be a very favorable spot for Columbus to keep their recent winning ways intact. The home side gets the call in this game for one of my NHL picks on Sunday.
NHL Picks: Play on Columbus -140 at Pinnacle
Boston Bruins vs. Washington Capitals 7:35 PM ET
These teams currently are holding down the two wild card spots in the Eastern Conference. According to the NHL betting odds at 5Dimes, Washington is a -140 money line favorite. This will be just the second meeting of the season between these teams, the first clash came way back on October 11th, and Washington was a 4-0 winner at the TD Garden in Boston.
It’s a Hot Dog
The Boston Bruins enter this game tonight on a five game winning streak as those placing NHL picks on them will happily confirm, and have also won seven of their previous eight. They’re coming off a 2-0 win at Pittsburgh on Saturday, and that marked their third consecutive road win. Tuukka Rask is slated to be in goal for the Bruins. He’s gone a perfect 4-0 in his previous four starts with an excellent .964 save percentage, and that includes stopping all 30-shots on goal in Saturday’s shutout performance at Pittsburgh.
It’s a Capital Cold Spell
The Washington Capitals will be playing the finale of a five game in eleven day home stand today. They’ve gone a disappointing 1-3 during the first four, and they’re only win came versus the Buffalo Sabres who are currently dead last in the NHL standings. Washington has also lost six of their last nine games overall.
NHL Picks: Play on Boston +130 on the money line over Washington at 5Dimes.
