Read why the NHL betting underdog Minnesota Wild will take advanatge tonight in Dallas of one of the NHL's worst defenses -- along with a power rating update around the league.

Season NHL PIcks Record: 22-16 (+13.62 units)

We're on one of those streaks again as the Calgary Flames cashed our +125 NHL odds ticket Sunday night Detroit as predicted.  We've also established a new bankroll high as we now stand at +13.62 units.  Today, we're going to take a look at our updated power rankings and get you another winner. As always make sure to visit SBR-approved sportsbooks to get the best number.

NHL power ratings are very important so we can identify the best betting option.  As I mentioned Sunday, the Red Wings shouldn't have been -150 favorite over anyone, even the Flames. That held true as the Flames got a road win.

Let's see how our current power rankings could equate to some unofficial plays Monday. The featured game is the New York Rangers visiting the Pittsburgh Penguins, and the line is Pittsburgh -160. On the surface, most would consider the Rangers an above average team and would be a decent underdog play -- but according to our rankings that's not the case.  The Pens are the only team we would back in all scenarios. But now that we've determined the Penguins are the right side does that high price make sense for our bankroll? We say no, so let's pass.  If you're a casual bettor and don't mind a large moneyline, Pittsburgh would be the right side.

The New Jersey Devils have sneaked up on a lot of bettors as we have them ranked fourth in our rankings.  Most would have them outside of their top 10 but they create enough offense to be competitive against anyone in the league.  They have received points in 62% of their games this season so this tells us they are in almost every matchup no matter the opponent.  We have their San Jose opponent Monday as the 17th-best, so if we were going to get involved in this game it would be with the road Devils who are getting +200 in some spots.  No way are we going to lay -220 with a Sharks team that is hovering around .500.

Finally, the  Wild visit the Stars. Dallas doesn't fare very well in our power ratings, mostly because the Stars are one of the worst defensive teams in the league.  They are ranked next to last in goals allowed (3.37) with a horrible penalty kill (78.8 percent).  I can't back a number that wants me to be blinded by an offense that ranks in the middle of the pack.  This is not the 2015-16 high-powered Dallas Stars.
