NHL Western Conference Update
The holiday season is upon us, and it’s as good a time as any to look at the future betting odds in the Western Conference of the NHL. At the time of this writing, the top four favorites to win the Western Conference according to the NHL betting future odds at Bovada are the Chicago Blackhawks (+250), Anaheim Ducks(+375), St. Louis Blues (+450), and Los Angeles Kings (+500).
The Automatic Qualifiers
If the season were to end today, let’s take a look at who would be the six automatic qualifiers for the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs in the Western Conference. The Chicago Blackhawks, Nashville Predators (+1200), and St. Louis Blues would be the automatic qualifiers from the Central Division. The top three spots in the Pacific Division are currently held down by the Anaheim Ducks, San Jose Sharks (+800), and Vancouver Canucks (+1400).
Wild Card Berths and Teams on the Periphery
As of today the two wild card berths in the Western Conference are owned by the Winnipeg Jets (+4000) and Los Angeles Kings. Two playoff teams from a season ago who didn’t make the cut are the Colorado Avalanche (+5000) and the Dallas Stars (+5000). The team in the West which has been the biggest surprise for me has been the Calgary Flames (+2500). The Flames are just 2-points behind the defending Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings for the final playoff position in the Western Conference.
