The Redwings are the sharp side tonight as I go for my sixth straight win and seven of eight.  Best line available is +109 at 5 Dimes NHL odds, right now!

2016-17 NHL Official Selection Record:  7-3   70.00%   +5.88 units

What a start to the season as we are off to a 7-3 start after stumbling out of the gate. That's six out of seven with a streak of five straight.

Tonight another underdog has jumped off the screen at me but before we get into the Redwings let's do a quick recap of betting trends after a busy night in the National Hockey League.

Home favorites are 37-11-2 good for a win percentage of 74% but that has come down as the home favorites split last night, 4-4.

Home underdogs are now 10-2 .833, after a 2-1 effort Thursday.

Games continue to go 'over' but it's evening out a bit as 30 of 53 games have reached the 'over' which is still a healthy 56% clip but last night may be the start of a trend as four of six games went 'under' the total. Sorry to those who have told me that they are going to blindly bet the 'over' every game. This is professional sports, with professional players, coached by the best in the world. They will make adjustments to slow teams down.

On to our play tonight

The goaltending seems to be settled, for now, in Detroit as Petr Mrazek and Jimmy Howard seem to have found their place, at least publicly. There isn't any doubt that Jimmy Howard wants to be the starter but his comments after Wednesday's 32 save effort against the Rangers sounded as if he has resigned to the fact that he is technically the back-up. One could argue that it's easy to say that after a 2-1 Wings win but at least verbally all seems well in Detroit.

Why the focus on words? Well, the "starter" Petr Mrazek gets the crease tonight and no matter how happy either seems with their role, there isn't any doubt that both netminders want the majority of playing time and the only way to do that is to win hockey games. That benefits us, as the public has pushed the Predators to a -125 road favorite. Most of the bookmakers I've talked with expect this to go higher. Mrazek (1-2) made a strong showing against Ottawa on Monday, a 31 save effort, so I'm very comfortable laying my money on him again.

Nashville Head Coach, Peter Laviolette, has made some line changes for tonight as the Preds have dropped two of their first three games.

You can always shop for the best hockey odds but I encourage you to visit Bookmaker as they will give you a 50% bonus on all deposits up to $300.
