There’s a full slate of NHL action on Saturday but if you’re planning to bet, take note of the early games. Even with 12 games on the schedule, five of them will start at 4:00 PM ET or earlier.

Here’s a look at the NHL odds and our Saturday picks:

Record: 34-40 (-521)

Pittsburgh Penguins at New Jersey Devils

At this point, I don’t see any reason to go against the Pittsburgh Penguins right now. They’ve won five straight, which includes a 5-1 stomping of the New Jersey Devils. They’ve played extremely well away from home, going 6-1-0 on the road.

The Pens beat the Devils 5-1 recently and that was without any help from their power play, which went 0-for-3. They’ve since scored six power play goals in 10 opportunities. If they can get their special teams going, they’ll win easily again on Saturday.

NHL Picks: Penguins -115 at 5Dimes

Nashville Predators at Minnesota Wild

The Nashville Predators have dominated their series with the Minnesota Wild, winning seven of the last eight meetings, and there’s a good chance that continues on Saturday. The Wild are slumping right now as they’ve lost three straight while scoring just three goals in the process. That doesn’t bode well for a matchup against the Predators, who are one of the best defensive teams in the league.

Goaltender Pekka Rinne is on fire right now as he’s posted a 0.74 GAA over his last four games while stopping 112 of 115 shots. He’s played great against Minnesota for his career, posting a 2.20 GAA against them.  On top of that, you get the Preds as a dog in this spot. What’s not to like in this one for one of your free hockey picks?

Calgary Flames at Vancouver Canucks

The Vancouver Canucks finally have some momentum going as they’ve won four straight. As per usual, they go as their goaltending does and right now it’s been sharp. They’ve allowed just four goals in their last four games, which includes a win over the high-scoring Chicago Blackhawks.

The Canucks will now host the sloppy Calgary Flames on Saturday and while I do like the Canucks, I don’t want to lay the juice with them. I’ll be on their momentum continuing with a puck line bet.

NHL Picks: Canucks -1.5 +165 at Pinnacle
