Big news in the NHL as it has been confirmed that Buffalo forward Jack Eichel will make his 2016-17 season debut in Ottawa on Tuesday. He severely sprained his ankle on Oct. 12, the day before the Sabres' season opener against Montreal. Will that affect the game's NHL odds?

Eichel has been practicing since last week and is expected to center the top line Tuesday alongside Evander Kane and Sam Reinhart while also leading the team's top power-play unit. Eichel was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2015 draft behind Connor McDavid. Eichel led the Sabres in scoring 24 goals and finished second among NHL rookies with 56 points in 81 games last season.

That's not to say Eichel is fully healthy yet, but he can at least play on the ankle now: “You can notice it all times, to be honest, but it’s not something that bothers you. I’ve talked to a lot of people, and even the doctors have said it will slowly start to fade away, but that’s not just going to happen within this first seven weeks or so. It’s going to be a lot longer than that. It’s just something that mentally you learn to deal with.”

It's a huge boost for Buffalo (7-9-5), which has scored one or fewer goals in regulation 12 times this season, including eight of its past 12 outings. The Sabres are currently +110 underdogs on NHL odds at BookMaker for Tuesday's game. Former Senators goalie Robin Lehner is expected to get the start in goal for Buffalo. In five games against his old team, Lehner has a 2-0-2 record with a .956 save percentage and a 1.30 goals against average.

Ottawa has won four in a row, all with Craig Anderson in net, and he's in there again. Anderson was named the first star of last week in the NHL while going 4-0-0 with a 1.25 goals-against average and .960 save percentage. The Sens and Sabres have split 2-1 results so far this season. Buffalo is just 2-7 on NHL picks in its past nine trips to Ottawa.
