NHL Betting – Thursday Picks
Record: 50-55 (-393)
New York Rangers at Ottawa Senators
The Ottawa Senators have won two straight and to the naked eye, seem back on track. Count me in as one of the skeptics. They beat New Jersey in a shootout and then beat Long Island; it’s not exactly an emphatic turnaround.
The New York Rangers are the better team in this spot. They thrive in low-scoring games and this should be another one. With a small price tag on the NHL odds, lay the juice with the Rangers.
NBA Picks: Rangers -120 at Pinnacle
Winnipeg Jets at Carolina Hurricanes
The Winnipeg Jets have had a really tough time finding the back of the net recently. They’ve scored just 13 goals in their last seven games and haven’t scored more than three in any of their last 10 games. They have scored two or less in six straight while going 0-for-13 on the power play in that spell.
By no means is Carolina a great defensive team but at least their defense tightens up at home. They have allowed just one goal in their last two home games. Meanwhile, goaltender Cam Ward has played well against the Jets as his 21 wins against them are his most against any team. I like the under.
NBA Picks: Under 5.5 at BetOnline
Vancouver Canucks at Dallas Stars
Both teams have been playing a number of overs recently and we’ll look for that trend to continue. Both squads have gone over the number in three straight games with each contest seeing at least seven goals.
The Canucks have had a tough time holding leads while the Stars have merely had a tough time keeping their opponents from scoring. Dallas has given up 14 goals over their last three.
If Kari Lehtonen is back in net, he’s got a 3.59 GAA against the Canucks. If it’s Richard Bachman, the Canucks should still get their share as they burned him for four goals last Friday.
