Last night we witnessed one of the greatest upsets in American history but no need to worry the Vancouver Canucks will return to Earth soon as they beat the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden as a -355 underdog.  The books added some cash to their bankrolls as the public pushed this number up from an opening number of -290.  We may have not won our NHL pick last night, what happened to the Leafs BTW? but we did warn against these plays that look like easy money.  When you are dealing with professional athletes and coaches anything can happen. Now some of you are facing a situation where you have to win four games just to make up for the play. If you stay away from one thing as Ranger bettors move forward, do not bet your next game to make up for last night. Digging a hole is not the way to find success long term.

When you think about the psychology of wagering it's really the perfect system for casinos because they know that when dealing with a male driven clientele' the last emotion that men portray is patience. The only way you'll be successful in the long term is to turn the tables.  If you feel yourself doing something out of character then you shouldn't do it or just follow what I ask you to do.

Tonight we see another overreaction to a big injury as the Columbus Blue Jackets will be without their top defensemen Seth Jones. The public has pushed the Anaheim Ducks to a -125 favorite after opening a -125 underdog. Jones, who played almost 25 minutes a night, will be replaced by Jack Johnson who certainly brings more of a physical game but you won't get the same offensive production. I would anticipate seeing David Savard getting some time on that top defensive pairing. Savard has been a solid +/- guy who doesn't turn the puck over. Let's not put so much into one injury because these things have a tendency to bring teams together, at least for a game or so.

This will be the last meeting between these two this season.  Columbus beat Anaheim in the first meeting at the Honda Center 4-0 and have since gone 3-0-1. Head Coach John Tortorella is the early favorite for coach of the year.
